China-Belarus joint geological center to open in 2024

23.07.2024
MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) - Belarus and China will set up a joint geological center by the end of the year, Belarusian Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Sergei Maslyak told the media before a meeting with Deputy Chief Inspector of Natural Resources of the People's Republic of China Chen Chenzhao in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

In September 2023, a delegation of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry of Belarus visited China to meet with colleagues. “Back then we discussed geological exploration, development of the mineral resource base, extraction of minerals, including hard-to-recover ones. The meeting resulted in signing a memorandum of cooperation between our enterprises,” Sergei Maslyak recalled.

The Xi'an Center of Geological Survey at the China Geological Survey at the Ministry of Natural Resources of China and the Research and Production Center of Geology at the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry of Belarus are completing the work on a draft agreement on the China-Belarus joint geological center at the Institute of China-SCO Geosciences Cooperation Research Center.

"“The project will imply both an exchange of experience, development of new innovative technologies, and application of new scientific approaches. The Chinese colleagues are scheduled to visit the Research and Production Center of Geology and the Belarusian State Geological Center in order to study our approaches,” the minister said.
Sergei Maslyak hailed the highest level of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China. “This is the prime example of friendship between the two countries for the entire world community,” he emphasized.
